With a change in format and a brand new platform, The Movie Guide is again: it’s a podcast that I co-host with a savvy Australian “journo” named Guy Davis. Every week Guy and I examine notes on a favourite movie of the Nineteen Seventies, 80s, or 90s for a half-hour of full of life chatter.
I first received in to podcasting in 2015 with our present Maltin On Movies. My daughter Jessie joined me a number of years in and we love having a platform that enables us to do interviews and chat about movies we need to share. Late final 12 months Brendan Dando, an Aussie podcast producer with a strong show-business background, reached out and his energetic pitch received me on board. Once Guy and I began speaking about The Godfather there was simply no stopping us. In episode 1 we introduce ourselves and speak a bit about our backgrounds, adopted by a dialogue about Mr. Coppola’s The Godfather.
From there we tackled Back to the Future, The Terminator, and Shaun of the Dead. Guy and I recall the place and after we first encountered these enduring movies and be happy to toss in behind-the-scenes trivia we occur to know.

Why is it known as The Movie Guide? Because that e-book, which I edited from 1969 to 2014, has been my calling card for many of my life. Its last version, dated 2015 or The Modern Era, remains to be in print, as is the third version of Leonard Maltin’s Classic Movie Guide, which incorporates opinions of a number of thousand movies we by no means received an opportunity to cowl within the annual paperback.
