Comedian Matt Rife is actually a stone’s throw away from ‘SNL’ simply in case its writers boycott upcoming host Dave Chappelle … and says he’d be honored to take the gig.
Matt was standing exterior 30 Rock in NYC Thursday along with his good friend and fellow comic Alex “Fonzi” Cureau — they have been holding up indicators studying “Will Write For Dave.”

Dave’s set to host ‘SNL’ this weekend for the primary time since his controversial 2021 Netflix particular “The Closer” … which his critics have ripped as transphobic.
While all ‘SNL’ solid members are working with Dave, a number of the writers are boycotting … in accordance with Page Six. As we reported, Chappelle’s camp says they’ve seen no proof of that all week.
But, simply in case, Matt and Alex are on the prepared … and say they are not making an attempt to make any statements about transphobia. Their message is rather more easy — “If you do not need your job I’ll take it.”
Of course, not everybody sees it that means … Matt and Alex have been really confronted by a minimum of one one that had an issue with their public plea to work with Dave.
Bottom line for Matt — who famously dated Kate Beckinsale again in 2017 — Dave’s the comedy G.O.A.T., so he isn’t lacking out if there is a shot at writing his ‘SNL’ sketches.
