Trump Finally Says Something Nice About Taylor Swift (Wait, What?!)
Reading Time: 2 minutes (we know you’re busy)
So, by now you’ve probably heard the big news: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged! The football star popped the question a couple of weeks ago, and the world has been freaking out ever since.
While Swifties everywhere are celebrating like they just won the Super Bowl, one very famous non-fan has decided to share his thoughts.
Yep. Donald Trump.
A reporter recently asked the former president what he thought about America’s newest favorite couple planning to tie the knot.
And get this—he was actually nice about it!
“Well, I wish them a lot of luck,” Trump said. “I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy, and she’s a terrific person, so I wish them a lot of luck.”
Wait… what?
This is a pretty big shift for a guy who has, in the very recent past:
-
Said he “hates” Taylor Swift for endorsing his political rival.
-
Called her a “woke singer” who is “no longer hot.” (All-caps, obviously. It’s more dramatic that way.)
-
Claimed his fans booed her at a game and he was proud of them.
Maybe nobody told him that their engagement post just became the most-liked post by a woman ever on Instagram. Or that her new ring is probably the size of a small planet. She seems to be doing just fine!
According to sources, the happy couple is already thinking about the next step: starting a family. “Their dream is to have kids,” a source said, adding that Taylor’s at a point in her career where she can take some time off.
Their official announcement was perfectly on-brand, with a joint Instagram post that simply read: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
So, love is in the air. And for once, so is a slightly confusing, but positive, comment from Donald Trump. What a time to be alive
