Japanese director Kawase Naomi’s drama “Yakushima’s Illusion” (“L’Illusion de Yakushima”), starring Vicky Krieps, will world premiere on the upcoming Locarno Film Festival as a late addition to the competitors.
Naomi, who’s Japan’s best-known feminine movie director, has been holding a comparatively low profile on the worldwide pageant circuit since 2022, when she was accused of bullying her firm employees and assaulting a member of her movie crew. The difficulty was resolved out of court docket.
