Warner Bros introduced on Friday that Mickey 17, its darkish sci-fi comedy starring Robert Pattinson (The Batman), will make its international streaming debut on Max on Friday, May 23. The movie will debut on HBO linear at 7:40 p.m. ET. on Saturday, May 24.
Written and directed by Bong Joon Ho, the filmmaker behind historic Oscar winner Parasite, Mickey 17 adapts the novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton. The story follows unlikely hero, Mickey Barnes (Pattinson), who has discovered himself within the extraordinary circumstance of working for an employer who calls for the last word dedication to the job… to die, for a dwelling.
Mickey is an “Expendable” — a disposable employee on a colonization mission to the icy planet Niflheim. Each time he dies, his consciousness is transferred into a brand new, cloned physique, permitting him to proceed his perilous duties. The plot thickens when he comes head to head along with his successor, the identical-looking Mickey 18.
Naomi Ackie (Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker), Steven Yeun (Minari), Toni Collette (Hereditary), and Mark Ruffalo (Poor Things) additionally star. Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner (Moonlight, 12 Years a Slave) produced alongside Director Bong and Dooho Choi (Okja, Snowpiercer), with Brad Pitt, Jesse Ehrman, Peter Dodd and Marianne Jenkins exec producing.
Premiering on the seventy fifth Berlin Film Festival in February, Mickey 17 was launched within the U.S. in March, grossing round $132 million worldwide.
