Three-time Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas has withdrawn from the U.S. gymnastics championship. Douglas won’t compete in Fort Worth, Texas, this weekend, citing an ankle damage.

Douglas’ unlucky damage ends her bid for the 2024 Paris Olympic group. Gabby returned to the competitors this spring after nearly an eight-year absence, hoping to make the U.S. group for this summer season’s Paris Games.

Gabby Looks Forward To The Future

The U.S. championships would have been Gabby’s closing likelihood to obtain an invite to the Olympic trials in Minneapolis in June. However, she plans to proceed coaching in preparation for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. She may also reunite along with her longtime consultant, Lowell Taub of Range Sports.

“I proved to myself and to the sport that my skills remain at an elite level. My plan is to continue to train for the L.A. 2028 Olympics. It would be such an honor to represent the U.S. at a home Olympics,” Gabby stated in a press release.
