Ready for Game of Thrones lite?
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a brand new collection coming to HBO subsequent 12 months, and creator George R.R. Martin, the EP of the collection and creator of the novels that spawned this world, guarantees a shift in tone.
The new spinoff “will be a lot shorter than Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon, with a much different tone,” Martin posted Wednesday on his weblog. “But it’s still Westeros, so no one is truly safe.”
The collection follows the journey of Ser Duncan the Tall (performed by Peter Claffey) and his younger squire, Egg (performed by Dexter Sol Ansell).
The official logline for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is “set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory” and “great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”
Martin wrote that Season 1 ould take care of the occasions of his first Dunk-and-Egg novella, The Hedge Knight.
“The show will make its debut next year,” he wrote, “and if it does well, [Novella #2] The Sworn Sword and [Novella #3] The Mystery Knight, will follow. By which time, I hope to have finished some more Dunk & Egg stories (yes, after I finish The Winds of Winter).”
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms can be written and executive-produced by Martin and Ira Parker. Ryan Condal, who at present serves as House of the Dragon‘s showrunner, Owen Harris, Sarah Bradshaw and Vince Gerardis additionally can be EPs. It is slated to premiere in June 2025.
