Meryl Streep will obtain the Cannes Film Festival‘s honorary Palme d’Or on the opening night time ceremony of the 77th version, the pageant has confirmed.
The Academy Award-winning actress’s attendance of the pageant will mark her first journey to Cannes since accompanying Fred Schepisi’s Evil Angels a Cry within the Dark in 1989 for which she gained greatest actress.
The actress has appeared in two different Cannes chosen movies throughout her profession, kicking off Woody Allen’s Manhattan, which performed Out of Competition in 1979, and Tommy Lee Jones’ The Homesman which performed in Competition in 2014.
The Cannes Film Festival runs May 14 to 25.
