Shakira nonetheless has some main tax troubles to cope with in Spain!
Of course, the Colombian-born singer simply settled a large tax evasion case within the Mediterranean nation final Monday. But that one solely coated tax points from 2012, 2013, and 2014 — and Spanish authorities had beforehand filed ANOTHER case in opposition to Gerard Piqué‘s ex concerning a 2018 cost downside, too. And now Shakira has paid up on that one, too!
According to Spanish newspaper El Periodico, on Friday, Shakira deposited 6.6 million Euros — the equal of about $7.2 million USD — into authorities coffers. And that quantity is seemingly not a part of the multi-million settlement cost she made greater than every week in the past. Per TMZ, that appears to be a second cost made along with the one she agreed to dole out final week within the preliminary case.

As we reported, final Monday, Shakira formally settled up with Spain over their 2012-14 tax assault by agreeing to a $7.5 million positive. She had been dealing with a $26 million penalty and doable jail time in that case, so the day-of-trial settlement was undoubtedly higher than what may need been.
But this new $7.2 million is in response to the 2018 prosecution. That authorized battle has been within the works for some time, too, although not so long as the just-settled 2012-14 case. As TMZ notes, it’s unclear whether or not this new cost is a positive deposit, an official settlement settlement, or a down cost on doable future penalties. The 2018 investigation remains to be winding its approach via the authorized system, and Shakira hasn’t been ordered to face trial on it but, so issues are nonetheless up within the air.
Per the unique Spanish-language report in El Periodico, nameless sources declare this new cost is a bid from Shakira to obtain future leniency within the 2018 case. If that’s true, it might make some sense. You’ll recall that final Monday following her 2012-14 settlement, Shakira launched a public assertion during which she lamented the “stress and emotional toll” of Spain’s tax prosecution in opposition to her and spoke extremely of “getting [her] time back” for each her youngsters and her profession:
“I need to move past the stress and emotional toll of the last several years and focus on the things I love — my kids and all the opportunities to come in my career, including my upcoming world tour and my new album, both of which I am extremely excited about. I admire tremendously those who have fought these injustices to the end, but for me, today, winning is getting my time back for my kids and my career.”
So, with a decade’s value of tax accusations by authorities officers on her again, possibly it’s no surprise the Hips Don’t Lie crooner is appearing so preemptively on the 2018 allegations. This second case doesn’t seem to have been dismissed or something — no less than not but — so this might not be the final we hear on this. Regardless, that’s a LOT of zeroes, y’all. Thoughts??
