‘BETWEEN TWO WORLDS’ IS WORTH SEEING  – Leonard Maltin’s Movie Crazy

It’s by no means a waste of time to look at Juliette Binoche, and this movie, which screened at Cannes in 2921, is unquestionably price seeing. It is impressed by Florence Aubena’s best-selling guide about her experiences posing as an uneducated single girl who takes the one job she will be able to discover—and qualifies for—as a housecleaner. (Even within the English-language subtitles, it’s amusing to see the euphemistic methods the job is described.)

With no airs or perhaps a trace of condescension Binoche joins the ranks of (principally) ladies who clear bogs, make beds, and endure punishing hours and uncaring employers to allow them to pay their hire and put meals on the desk.

Although she bonds with a handful of coworkers she stays a loner, and we quickly study the rationale why: she is in actual fact a profitable creator who believes that earlier than she will be able to write about individuals residing at or beneath the poverty line, she should endure their hardscrabble existence first-hand.

Between Two Worlds is each credible and absorbing. This is the primary function Emmanuel Carrère has directed since The Moustache (2008) and it’s a skillful piece of journalistic commentary, leavened with a splash of empathy. I want I discovered the denouement extra satisfying, coming because it does after a climactic revelation that shakes its main characters to the core.

Binoche pursued the creator for years for an opportunity to make this adaptation and he or she has nothing to be ashamed of, least of all her considerate efficiency.
