Scammers trying to make a fast buck on the lacking Titanic-bound submersible tried to crowdsource off the tragedy … however GoFundMe is cracking down.
Here’s the deal … we did some digging and located a number of GoFundMe pages in search of donations for search and rescue efforts, and cash for the lacking passengers’ households.
Problem is … these GoFundMe pages are NOT legit … and the platform is taking motion, and scrubbing the pages in some circumstances.
A rep for GoFundMe tells TMZ … their Trust & Safety crew is monitoring the platform for fundraisers associated to the OceanGate sub, and 5 fundraisers have already been eliminated.
The people behind the bogus fundraisers seem to have lofty visions … most of them set six-figure objectives, with others in search of upwards of $2 million.
The sub went lacking Sunday, sparking an enormous search and rescue mission … but it surely seems the submersible imploded, killing all 5 individuals inside, and so they might have died the very day they set out for the Titanic shipwreck.
