Before James Gunn took over as DC Studios co-head with Peter Safran, he had unfastened ends to tie up with the MCU, making “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3.” Now, within the lead-up to that movie’s theatrical launch on May 5, Gunn teases what some superhero film fan has dreamed about for years now; and, for the remainder of us, is the stuff of nightmares.

In their newest concern, Empire reviews that Gunn teased the chance of one thing film followers surprise about: a DC/Marvel crossover movie. And Gunn’s tackle the likelihood? “I’m certain that’s more likely now that I’m in charge [at DC],” Gunn informed the journal, “Who knows?” But Gunn did admit if a crossover film ever have been to occur, it wouldn’t be for a very long time. “That’s many years away, though,” Gunn continued. “I think we have to establish what we’re doing [at DC] first. I would be lying to say that we haven’t discussed it. But all discussions have been very, very light and fun.”
And as momentum picks up for Gunn’s grand plans for the DCEU‘s new chapter “Gods And Monsters,” the director doesn’t really feel possessive about how the MCU handles his “Guardians” character from right here on out. It would completely not be disloyal of them to me to proceed on within the Marvel Universe,” mentioned Gunn. “I would love to see any characters that remain get solo movies, or join the Avengers, or a new version of the Guardians or whatever.” “Vol. 3” sees Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, and Pom Klementieff all return to reprise their roles within the new film. Maybe in the future audiences will see these characters battle in opposition to or alongside the likes of Superman, Batman, and Booster Gold?
Honestly, let’s hope not. The new DCEU should set up itself earlier than a professional crossover might ever be thought of. And Marvel Studios is in its personal transitional interval, too, slowing their output on Disney+ and the massive display screen. So if a DC-Marvel crossover does occur, don’t count on it for a really very long time, and effectively previous loads of the present MCU stars are now not a part of the franchise.
In the meantime, “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3” opens in theaters on May 5, whereas James Gunn preps “Superman: Legacy” for DC Studios.
