PETERBOROUGH, N.H.: MacDowell has awarded spring and summer time residencies to 142 artists, with 15 theatre artists among the many honorees.
“For our spring and summer fellows, the task of calendar-clearing will be rewarded in Peterborough with a focused intentionality and freedom from distractions,” resident director David Macy stated in a press release. “With ideal working conditions in the studios, MacDowell offers a temporary utopia where artists can, through social interaction and creative exchange, bring out the best in one another.”
Theatre artist fellows embody playwright and performer Nkenna Akunna; playwright Jennifer Barclay; poet and playwright Amy Quan Barry; poet, playwright, and director Maxe Crandall; artist and tradition strategist Ebony Noelle Golden; playwright Libby Heily; playwright and dramaturg Kaite O’Reilly; playwright Margaret Perry; playwright, director, and dramaturg George Sapio; playwright Daphne Silbiger; author, director, and composer Evan Silver; playwright Hayley Stahl; author Ekaterina Wagner; author, director, and performer Deke Weaver; and playwright and filmmaker Khari Wyatt.
Additionally, interdisciplinary artists awarded fellowships embody efficiency maker Mauriah Donegan Kraker; director and performer Alison S. M. Kobayashi; choreographer Kaz Okay. Sherman; choreographer and director Ni’Ja Whitson; and choreographer Leah Wilks.
MacDowell seeks to nurture the humanities by providing an inspiring residential setting the place artists can produce enduring artistic works. MacDowell has supplied interrupted time to artists for over a century, and eligible artists can obtain journey grants and stipends to offset bills accrued at dwelling throughout their residency.
