Latinx Shakespeares: Writing a Theatre Archive


The Latinx Theatre Commons presents a digital ebook launch get together for Latinx Shakespeares: Staging US Intracultural Theater (University of Michigan Press, January 2023) and the launch of LatinxShakespeares.org livestreaming on the worldwide, commons-based, peer-produced HowlRound TV community on Wednesday 8 March at 4 p.m. PST (San Francisco, UTC -4) / 6 p.m. CST (Chicago, UTC -6) / 7 p.m. EST (New York, UTC -5).

This monograph explores how Latinx tradition is constructed dramaturgically and textually in Shakespearean variations and productions.

Della Gatta’s work has been supported by two fellowships from the Folger Shakespeare Library and the Citizens and Scholars Career Enhancement Fellowship. Della Gatta was awarded the J. Leeds Barroll Dissertation Prize in 2016 from the Shakespeare Association of America for her work on Shakespeare and Latinidad.

LatinxShakespeares.org is a web-based dwelling theatre archive of Latinx adaptation. Della Gatta constructed the positioning and is managing it as editor. The archive holds info on over 275 performs and productions, together with ephemera and sources. The web site has evaluations from over 20 contributors and rising.

Shakespeare and Latinidad (2021)
This version, co-edited with Trevor Boffone, contains essays and interviews from twenty-five playwrights, actors, students, dramaturgs, and administrators who work on the intersection of Shakespearean and Latinx theatrical manufacturing.
