Cafe serving selfmade salted caramel dice croissant, truffle mushrooms danish & cinnamon swirl

I don’t find out about you, however every time I enter a cafe, the sound of the espresso machines and the intoxicating aroma from a cup of Joe relaxes me. I’ve been eyeing The Bread Rack situated at Space @ Kovan for a while and eventually determined to offer it a strive!

I headed there on a Monday morning and the environment was a stark distinction to the weekend crowd that I’m used to seeing— peaceable, calm and chill (simply the way in which I prefer it).

There had been teams of individuals engaged on their laptops and associates having an off-the-cuff chat while sipping on drinks and having fun with some pastries.

Speaking of pastries, The Bread Rack handmakes their danish pastries, croissants and loaves of contemporary sourdough bread each day. Everything seemed so inviting by means of the glass show on the counter, and I took some time earlier than my fickle-minded self got here to a choice.

What I attempted at The Bread Rack

I took step one onto bread haven with the Truffle Mushrooms Danish (S$6.80). It was an almond-shaped pastry crammed with slices of shitake mushrooms, parmesan cheese shavings and chopped parsley.

As my fork and knife sunk into the Danish, I may hear satisfying crackling sounds that made me a tad hungrier.

The sliced mushrooms had been perfumed with the fragile aroma of truffle, which paired so effectively with its smoky earthy flavour. The buttery layers of the pastry had been so mild like pillowy clouds— completely delicious!

As I proceeded additional in direction of the centre, layers of cream cheese appeared like tiny surprises. The creaminess of it instantly balanced out the sharp notes coming from the shaved parmesan. This was a very good begin to my morning!

I then moved on to the following dish, the Salted Caramel Cube Croissant (S$5.80). It was an ideal cube-shaped pastry with all of its edges on-point. There was a glistening layer of caramel on the high garnished with walnuts.

Upon ‘destroying’ the croissant, there was a mini tsunami of yellow cream gushing out from inside. Within seconds, my plate had a tiny puddle of goodness within the center— good as a dip for my croissant.

The style had one of the best of each worlds, candy and savoury on the similar time. The cooks at The Bread Rack had calibrated the proper recipe which didn’t overwhelm me 3 to 4 mouthfuls in. Good job, guys!

The subsequent dish I attempted was the Scrambled Eggs Croissant (S$8.90). At first look, the scrambled egg seemed like a whole omelette being stuffed into the croissant.

“Will it be dry and hard?” I believed to myself.

I dived straight in for the egg and reduce it in half, and was greeted by a luscious runny texture that depicts perfectly-executed scrambled eggs. However, that being stated, I want that it wasn’t served in a whole piece which supplies off the mistaken notion.

The buttery croissant managed to take care of its crispy flaky texture even with the components sitting inside. The juicy tomatoes and crunchy Romaine lettuce added a contact of freshness to the wealthy egg.

he bread rack - cinnamon swirl

We ended our pleasant breakfast with the Cinnamon Swirl (S$4.80). It was a beautiful golden brown round pastry with bits of char on its floor.

The charred bits gave off bitter notes however instantly built-in along with the sweetness coming from the sugar coating.

The pastry was fluffy and possessed the identical texture as a brioche bun. As I’m not a lot of a cinnamon fan, I appreciated that the flavour was mellow. However, it could not enchantment to those that find it irresistible.
