MANILA, Philippines — Two youth teams on Monday known as for the growth of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) as an alternative of the revival of the obligatory Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC).
Justine Luis Balane, chair of the Akbayan Youth, defined the thought throughout a Senate committee listening to on making ROTC obligatory.
“Whatever the scholars select — whether or not ROTC, Civic Welfare Training Service, or Literacy Training Service — all of these are types of exhibiting one’s love for the nation. The youth needs to be free to decide on how they wish to serve their motherland,” Balane stated in Filipino.
