AMERICAN THEATRE | Cincinnati Playhouse Announces First Incubator Program Members


CINCINNATI: Cincinnati Playhouse within the Park has introduced the inaugural class of its Arts and Culture Incubator program. The program will present assets and mentoring to 9 native organizations and two native theatre artists.

“Theatre is inherently a collaborative art form: No play makes it to the stage without the talents of a production team and a company that affords them resources,” producing creative director Blake Robison mentioned in a press release. “We recognize that we can provide this same kind of collaborative energy for our artistic and cultural peers. Ultimately, our entire community benefits from their talents.”

The 2023 Incubator program members embrace Cincinnati Music Accelerator, Cincinnati Pride, DuWaup’s Cincinnati Poetry Slam, Elevated Aerials, the Greater Cincinnati Native American Coalition, Heroes Rise Street Dance Academy, Queen City Flash, Science on Tap, and the Young Professionals Choral Collective of Cincinnati. Additionally, artists Derek J. Snow and Curtis D. Shepard may even take part as program members.

Each of the Incubator members has labored with the Playhouse or with Playhouse companions beforehand, together with in stage productions, neighborhood engagement occasions, or instructional programming. Snow is an actor, director, and author who has been lively within the Cincinnati theatre scene for over 4 many years. A graduate of Cincinnati’s School for Creative and Performing Arts and a public college dramatic arts instructor, Snow has been a member of the bodily theatre group Performance Gallery for 21 years. His works have been produced nationwide and within the U.Ok., India, and Australia. In 2020, Snow established the nonprofit Missing Front Plate Productions to handle the shortage of BIPOC work in theatres nationwide. Snow’s directing credit embrace Mariemont Players, Inc., Know Theatre, Falcon Theatre, and Footlighters, Inc.

Curtis D. Shepard.

Shepard is an actor, author, and spoken phrase artist who based the grassroots mother and father help group Dads Against Angry Moms. In 2021, a staged studying of Shepard’s piece Get Off Of Me premiered on the Pacific Northwest Multi-Cultural Readers Series & Film Festival. Shepard was a finalist within the 2021 Breath Project for his manufacturing Ronnie and Vince. Shepard not too long ago starred in Trapped on the IndyFringe Theatre Festival.
