“Stick Season”
Noah Kahan is a singer and songwriter from Strafford, Vermont. Last 12 months, in 2022, he launched Stick Season, his third document. The title monitor from that document went viral on TikTok when Noah was first writing it, and posting items of it. One of these movies has over 10 million performs. And as of this recording, on Spotify, the complete tune has nearly 100 million streams.
For this episode, Noah talked to me in regards to the course of of constructing that tune: What led him to first put up half a tune on TikTok, and what occurred after that. You’ll hear the uncooked recordings off of his telephone; the completely different drafts he made as he labored; you’ll hear the completely different variations he first shared on social media; and also you’ll hear his bracingly trustworthy appraisal of the winding path he took — in his life, and in his music — to get to the place he’s now.
