KYIV — Several senior Ukrainian officers introduced their resignations Tuesday because the protection ministry was shaken by a meals procurement scandal and the presidency warned of robust anti-graft measures.
The defence ministry introduced the resignation of a deputy minister, Vyacheslav Shapovalov, who was in command of the military’s logistical assist.
The resignation comes after the ministry was accused of signing meals contracts at inflated costs.
While calling the accusations “unfounded and baseless”, the ministry stated Shapovalov’s departure “will protect the belief of society and worldwide companions”.
