NEW YORK: Page 73 has named Majkin Holmquist their 2023 Playwriting Fellow and a member of the 2023 Interstate 73 Writers Group. Other playwrights within the 2023 Writers Group embrace Lucas Baisch, Mary Lyon Kamitaki, Shayan Lotfi, Naomi Lorrain, Charlie Oh, Audley Puglisi, and Nia Akilah Robinson.

“Majkin writes plays that are at once expansive and intimate, propelled by a deep compassion for character and an indelible sense of place,” Page 73 inventive director Michael Walkup stated in an announcement. “We’re excited to support Majkin and name her our 20th Playwriting Fellow, and also to work with her as a member of Interstate 73.”

Holmquist will obtain an unrestricted award of $10,000, in addition to a growth price range of as much as $10,000 to be managed all year long. Holmquist is a playwright from the Smoky Valley area of Kansas, the place she was the co-founder of the Next Stage Theatre Company. Her work has been developed at New York Stage and Film, Woodshed Collective, Bay Street Theatre, the Ucross Foundation, and Roundabout Theatre Company. She has been a finalist for honors from Colt Coeur, the Pacific Playwrights Festival, and PlayPenn. A member of the Midnight Oil Collective, Holmquist is a lecturer in playwriting on the Yale School of Drama, from which she obtained her MFA.
