Thousands of fish seem useless in lagoon in Rio’s Barra da Tijuca


Many fish, primarily savannas, appeared floating right this moment (Jan. 13) within the Marapendi Lagoon and the Canal das Taxas, in Barra da Tijuca, the west zone of Rio.

The lagoon is a part of the Jacarepaguá Lagoon System, which every day throws hundreds of thousands of uncooked sewage into the surroundings.

Biologist Mário Moscatelli, who has been working for 30 years to fight the sediment thrown every day into the lagoon, mentioned that “a long time of neglect with city sanitation and the uncontrolled progress of actual property within the area have an effect on probably the most susceptible species, that are the savannahs.

The fish have taken over the Marapendi . . .
