Contrary to rumors suggesting in any other case, a sequel to Nancy Meyers’ “The Holiday” is not within the works. But we do have one other house-swapping rom-com from a lady director to look ahead to. A trailer simply launched for Reese Witherspoon-starrer “Your Place or Mine.” Penned and helmed by “The Devil Wears Prada” scribe Aline Brosh McKenna, the pic tells the story of two long-distance BFFs, and whole opposites, who determine to swap homes and lives for every week. Peter (Ashton Kutcher) can sense that Debbie (Witherspoon), a single mother, is in dire want of a break. “You need help. Let me help,” he insists within the spot. The plan is for him to come back to LA for every week and deal with Debbie’s son whereas she stays at Peter’s dwelling in NYC for some much-needed relaxation and rest.
Debbie and Peter have been buddies for 20 years, however they didn’t begin off as friends. The spot reveals that they connected approach again when, however determined they had been higher off holding issues platonic. “My mom always says you’re terrible with women,” Debbie’s son (Wesley Kimmel) tells Peter.
Asked by a brand new pal (Zoe Chao) what her love life is like, Debbie responds, “sort of like an old ghost town.” But issues don’t keep that approach. She meets a man (Jesse Williams) and begins to fall for him. Things get sophisticated when Debbie begins to suspect that Peter could also be fascinated about greater than friendship along with her.
Witherspoon gained an Oscar for “Walk the Line” and obtained a nod for “Wild.” She netted an Emmy for her work as an exec producer on “Big Little Lies.” The budding mogul’s upcoming slate features a third installment of the “Legally Blonde” franchise.
“Your Place or Mine” marks Brosh McKenna’s function directorial debut. She helmed 4 episodes of The CW’s “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” a musical comedy sequence she co-created with star Rachel Bloom.
