Berlin Film Fest to Open with Rebecca Miller’s “She Came to Me,” Anne Hathaway Stars

Rebecca Miller’s newest has been tapped to open the 2023 Berlin International Film Festival. Oscar winner Anne Hathaway and four-time Emmy winner Peter Dinklage topline “She Came to Me,” which is able to make its world premiere on the fest February 16. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the information.

The romantic comedy is about in New York and follows a composer (Dinklage, “Game of Thrones”) with author’s block who’s “struggling to complete his big comeback opera. On the suggestion of his wife, and former therapist, played by Hathaway, he sets out in search of inspiration, getting more than he bargained for,” per the supply.

Marisa Tomei (“Spider-Man: No Way Home”) and Joanna Kulig (“Hanna”) co-star.

“We are very pleased to open this festival edition with an irresistible comedy that builds upon the everyday conflicts of western society,” stated Berlinale administrators Mariëtte Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian in a press release. “The characters, conceived by Rebecca Miller and incarnated by fantastic actors choose to follow the inspiration of the moment instead of being led by societal dictates. Like a pre-code Hollywood film, ‘She Came to Me’ is a magical ode to the freedom of expression.”

Two of Miller’s earlier options screened on the Berlinale, 2015’s “Maggie’s Plan” and 2009’s “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee.” She final directed “Arthur Miller: Writer,” a 2017 doc about her father, the famed playwright behind “Death of a Salesman” and “The Crucible.”

Hathaway gained an Oscar for “Les Misérables” and obtained a nod for “Rachel Getting Married.” She had a supporting function in 2022’s “Armageddon Time,” a coming-of-age drama exploring race, faith, and the American Dream. She and “Last Night in Soho’s” Thomasin McKenzie  lead “Eileen,” a psychological thriller a couple of friendship between two ladies working at a jail that’s set to make its world premiere at Sundance later this month.

Berlin Film Fest runs February 16-26.
