The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) introduced this Monday (Dec. 19) the discount of 38.9% within the Itaipu tariff for 2023.
The new tariff displays the discount within the state-owned hydroelectric dam’s debt service and the Unit Cost of Electricity Services (Cuse).
In 2019, Itaipu’s debt was US$2.07 billion and can fall to US$277.3 million in 2023.
Thus, the tariff, which in 2019 was US$ 22.60/kW, will go to US$ 12.67, representing a discount of greater than R$9 (US$1.7) billion within the invoice paid by . . .
