AMERICAN THEATRE | Theatrical Mustang: Migguel Anggelo’s Joy and Exhaustion


American Theatre is proud to be the venue for Theatrical Mustang, an independently produced podcast from actor-writer-activist Woodzick. Each month they’ll deliver listeners interviews with unbridled expertise and cultural trailblazers from throughout the nation.

This month Woodzick interviews Migguel Anggelo, a Venezuelan American singer-songwriter, multidisciplinary performing artist, countertenor, dancer, actor, and painter. His work explores the intersections of his queer, Latino, and immigrant identities utilizing music, bodily theatre, dance, textual content, and costume. As a theatre creator, he has been awarded residencies to develop new works at MASS MoCA, the Kimmel Center, and Miami Light Project, amongst different organizations.

English With an Accent is an authentic musical manufacturing of dance-theatre, helmed by Anggelo and an organization of 10 dancers, which can go up at Lincoln Center’s Clark Studio Theater, Dec. 1-3, in New York City. This additionally marks the venture’s album launch, during which we observe an immigrant caterpillar’s arrival in New York with hopes of changing into a butterfly. English With an Accent explores the attainability of the American dream by means of themes of freedom, security, and self-worth. Directed, choreographed, and developed by Avihai Haham, the manufacturing boasts authentic music and lyrics by Anggelo and a longtime collaborator and music director, Jaime Lozano.
