Blending dance music and indie-pop to beautiful impact, Paper Idol has dropped his debut album, The Playground.
Out now through CloudKid, The Playground chronicles the numerous phases of childhood by way of eight funky and nostalgic indietronica tracks. “It’s Boyhood the album,” Idol stated in a press release.
From the grungy guitar riffs of “CNTRL” and the classic youngsters’s choir in “The Playground” to the cheeky future-funk synths of “Bright Side Baby,” the album takes us by way of a uncooked—and electrifying—coming-of-age.
“The Playground is about lacking the purity of childhood,” Idol added. “It’s really easy to get caught up in standing, envy, competitors, want to match your self to others. But we regularly overlook there was a time after we have been simply ‘being,’ absorbing the world round us with no ego, no care on the planet.”
