AMERICAN THEATRE | Offscript: How Is This Time for Jews Onstage Different From All Others?



On this particular version of Offscript, we host a dialog amongst theatre artists who both at present or not too long ago have been a part of works on New York City levels that study Jewishness and/or antisemitism, at a time when anti-Jewish hate crimes and antisemitic speech have resurfaced in American tradition to an unsettling diploma. Our friends embody Joel Grey, whose staging of Fiddler within the Roof in Yiddish is having one other run at New World Stages Off-Broadway; Tovah Feldshuh, who not too long ago joined the solid of Broadway’s Funny Girl within the function of Rose Brice; Caissie Levy, at present showing in Tom Stoppard’s Leopoldstadt on Broadway; Michael Arden, who in early November directed a high-profile revival of Jason Robert Brown’s Parade at City Center; and Bess Wohl, whose play Camp Siegfried is at present working at Second Stage Off-Broadway.

Moderator Gabrielle Hoyt leads a dialog about what these exhibits are saying to audiences in 2022, and the way their themes and tales resonate within the lives of those artists.
