A Streetcar Named Desire reveals its full solid on the Almeida – There Ought To Be Clowns

Full casting has been introduced for Rebecca Frecknall’s manufacturing of Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire, which performs on the Almeida Theatre from 10 December 2022 – 4 February 2023.

The solid consists of Paul Mescal (Normal People) as Stanley, Anjana Vasan (Summer and Smoke, West End) as Stella, and Lydia Wilson (The Duchess of Malfi, Almeida) as Blanche.

Completing the solid are Eduardo Ackerman, Ralph Davis (Blue/Orange, Theatre Royal Bath), Janet Etuk (An Improbable Musical, Royal & Derngate), Gabriela García (West Side Story, Royal Exchange), Tom Penn (Midnight Movie, Royal Court), Jabez Sykes (Rock/Paper/Scissors, Sheffield Theatres) and Dwane Walcott (Henry V, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre).

When Blanche unexpectedly visits her estranged sister Stella, she brings together with her a previous that can threaten their future. As Stella’s husband Stanley stalks nearer to the reality, Blanche’s fragile world begins to fracture. Reality and phantasm collide and a violent battle adjustments their lives eternally.

The manufacturing has set design by Madeleine Girling, costumes by Merle Hensel, lighting by Lee Curran, sound by Peter Rice, composition by Angus MacRae, and casting by Julia Horan CDG.
