AMERICAN THEATRE | Road Less Traveled Productions Launches Internship Program 


BUFFALO, N.Y. : Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) has introduced the RLTP Bridge Program, a 16-week paid internship alternative for college kids all in favour of a profession within the arts.  

The internship, sponsored by RLTP, is particularly designed to offer college students and early artists of colour with hands-on expertise that can nurture their long-term careers within the theatrical business. The internship will run Jan. 2023 by means of May 2023. 

The program will supply a number of concentrations resembling directing, appearing, playwriting, design, and stage administration, and college students will select one space as their focus. The purpose is for college kids to have an elevated consciousness and appreciation for all areas of theatre with an emphasis on collaboration. Interns will attend weekly conferences with mentors, community with RLTP visitor artists of colour, and shall be paid for his or her work on manufacturing load-ins, load-outs, and entrance of home duties.

Actor, author, director, casting agent, and program director Peter Johnson will spearhead the RLTP Bridge Program. The internship can even embody collaboration with RLTP ensemble member and Raíces Theatre Company inventive director, Victoria Pérez. (Raíces Theatre Company is presently in residence at Road Less Traveled Theater). 

“In almost 20 years of being immersed in the theatre and film industry, in my hometown of Buffalo, N.Y., I have noticed a lack of artists of color representation in almost all aspects of the industry,” mentioned Johnson in a press release.  “As an artist, a part of my mission is to inspire and provide young artists with resources on how they can be successful in this competitive industry. It is my personal goal to provide young artists of color a professional platform that will give them “hands on experience” with mentorship and steerage that can ultimately result in extra profession alternatives for artists of colour on this business.” 

Applications for the RLTP Bridge Program are open till Nov. 27.
