ORMOC CITY — At least 49 underground mass organizations (UGMO) members denounced their affiliation with the Northern and Eastern Samar insurgent teams through the Holy Week.
Brig. Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, regional director of the Police Regional Office in Eastern Visayas, lauded the profitable give up of UGMO members.
He mentioned the event resulted from the joint negotiations between the group and the police and army forces.
“To put an end to this false propaganda, we will continue to urge other communist rebels to turn themselves in to the authorities and lay down their arms,” Marbil mentioned.
Among the surrenderers included barangay officers and well being employees.
