In a brand-new teaser trailer for the upcoming Little Mermaid film, Disney gave excited followers a primary have a look at everybody’s favorite most feared sea witch, Ursula.
In the 30-second trailer launched Wednesday, Melissa McCarthy, who performs Ursula, is briefly seen together with her face obscured by an extended, darkish tentacle. As the trailer closes with Ariel’s iconic ballad, Part of Your World, McCarthy teases her chilling, evil cackle.

Halle Bailey, who performs Ariel, is seen swimming by way of coral reefs and bouncing on pillowy teams of jellyfish within the trailer. Disney gave audiences a quick peek of Ariel and Prince Eric’s almost-kiss on a small boat.
Already, the reimagined The Little Mermaid has struck a chord with Disney followers, particularly younger Black ladies who see themselves in Bailey’s mermaid princess. When the primary trailer dropped in September, Black Disney followers younger and previous praised the movie for its casting. On social media, dad and mom shared dozens of movies of their kids reacting to the primary view of Bailey as Ariel.
Sitting straight in entrance of her TV, one younger lady shouted as Ariel appeared on display, and even did a double-take to ensure what she was seeing was true. Writhing with pleasure on the ground, the lady stated, “She’s brown like me. I’m so excited.”

The new live-action movie is a remake of the Disney animated traditional The Little Mermaid from 1989. The story follows a younger mermaid, Ariel, who makes a cope with an evil sea witch to develop legs and dwell on land so as to fall in love with a prince, all at the price of her voice.
Jonah Hauer-King can be enjoying Prince Eric, whereas a number of different powerhouse performers play varied roles, together with Javier Bardem as Ariel’s father King Triton, Daveed Diggs because the crab Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay as Ariel’s greatest fish buddy Flounder and Awkwafina because the seagull, Scuttle.
The movie can have its theatrical launch on May 26, 2023.
