IPL Teams Foreign Leagues: The Indian Premier League (IPL) homeowners investing overseas and collaborating in worldwide leagues seem like a worrying pattern that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is noticing. The BCCI representatives appeared to discourage the franchises from competing in worldwide T20 leagues on the homeowners’ assembly in Kochi on Friday (December 23) morning, which was held along side the IPL public sale. “That was the point. They tried to discourage them from participating in foreign leagues. They understood those who are already there. But they tried to dissuade us from taking such steps in the future,” stated an official of a staff who was current on the assembly as per Cricbuzz.
Although the BCCI didn’t categorical any objections, it was clear that they weren’t amused by the IPL franchises’ participation in worldwide leagues.
“They were suggesting that our presence in foreign leagues could dilute the value of the IPL,” stated the official.
Dhumal gave a reasonably politically appropriate response when questioned about it, selecting to play it secure.
“Not really. Other boards have all the right to start their leagues. But we have seen that the IPL is way ahead. A few of them (franchise owners) have interests in other leagues. They have to look after their business interests. We can’t stop them. They have money in their kitty, so it is their choice,” Dhumal stated.
Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Delhi Capitals are the three IPL groups presently taking part in within the UAE league (ILT20).
While Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, SunRisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals, and Rajasthan Royals are the six groups competing within the league in South Africa (SA20). The SA20 is definitely considered a mini-IPL as a result of all six groups are IPL associates.
Additionally, two IPL groups—Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings—play within the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
