Spoilers forward…

The movie doesn’t deliver you to the sting of your seat. Still, it’s a strong addition to Hollywood-derived actioners like ‘Maanadu’ and ‘Vikram’..

PS Mithran’s ‘Sardar’, with Karthi and Raashi Khanna, is an interesting spy thriller that sticks near the style

PS Mithran could have developed a brand new style: ShankarWooden. Like the director Shankar, he takes a problem and makes it the premise for a Hollywood-style, hero-centric motion film. In Irumbu Thirai, the problem was cybercrime. In Hero, the problem was schooling / mental theft. In his new Karthi-starrer, Sardar, the problem is that of placing a value on water. The villain desires to manage all of the drinking-water provide in India, by bottling the water and promoting it. But the true hazard could also be from the plastic bottles. The second half of “ShankarWood” comes from Hollywood. Unlike Shankar, whose sensibility is sort of Indian, Mithran appears to be like Lokesh Kanagaraj: a lover of Hollywood style cinema. Sardar isn’t with out Indian-isms – say, a few pointless duets. But Mithran is sensible sufficient to intercut them with different actions. So the songs don’t precisely develop into velocity breakers.
