ST. LOUIS: The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis has named Reggie D. White to be their new affiliate inventive director. The actor, playwright, and educator will be a part of the Rep early subsequent 12 months.
“Reggie D. White is a transformative emerging thought leader in our field,” mentioned Hana S. Sharif, the Rep’s inventive director, in a press release. “He brings a joyful, innovative, and imaginative spirit of collaboration with his wide-ranging experience as a creative producer, educator, and community connector. I could not be more excited to welcome Reggie’s talents to St. Louis and his strategic insight to the Rep as we enter this great new era of artistry.”
As an actor, White made his Broadway debut within the Tony-winning play The Inheritance. He has served because the inventive director and school member on the Atlantic Acting School and is a resident artist on the Vineyard Theatre. White’s play In Case You Hadn’t Heard: A Conversation Between America’s Past and Its Promise premiered at Bay Street Theater final spring, and he’s at present co-writing a play with Lauren Gunderson. He is a founding member of the multi-generational theatre collective the Commissary and a founding firm member with the Williams Project, a living-wage theatre firm. White has directed works with the Public Theater, PlayGroundSF, and others, and is a recipient of the Colman Domingo Award and the Theatre Communications Group Fox Foundation fellowship, amongst others.
As affiliate inventive director, White will assist line producing mainstage, site-specific, and neighborhood arts programming, inventive strategic planning, and inventive neighborhood engagement. White may even make his directorial debut on the Rep with a Stephen Sondheim revue subsequent 12 months.
