Dear Grif-friend,

Well, effectively, WELL. What per week to be writing the Griffin News notice! It’s been an thrilling time to be a Griff and it’s such a privilege to be sharing all our information with our prolonged Grif-family! I’m Ell and I’m the Relationships Manager right here at Griffin. The final time I wrote this notice we had been in an prolonged lockdown, however now we’re about to open one other new Australian play, launch our 2023 Season and change into house owners of the theatre we’ve referred to as dwelling for the previous 40 years. A refreshing change of tempo!

Tomorrow, we preview Dylan Van Den Berg’s play Whitefella Yella Tree. Dylan developed his script over his time as a Griffin Studio artist in 2021 and it’s unbelievable to see this work come to life. Dylan follows an spectacular record of Studio artists who’ve seen their work on the SBW Stables stage: Meyne Wyatt, Suzie Miller and Phil Spencer to call a number of. The ending touches of Mason Browne’s attractive set are being put in place and we look ahead to audiences falling in love with Guy Simon and Callan Purcell’s performances, as we have already got.

The largest headline this week was that the Neilson Foundation has made a game-changing donation of $5 million to Griffin, paving the best way for Griffin to buy the SBW Stables Theatre and adjoining terrace and embark upon a significant redevelopment. The buy follows the announcement of profitable inventive capital funding from the NSW Government. This funding requires us to boost matched funding dollar-for-dollar, so we will likely be embarking upon an bold Capital Campaign to make sure our beloved Stables Theatre will get the a lot wanted facelift it deserves. This features a raise, a much-needed rehearsal room, and comfier seats!

Griffin goes via an unbelievable time of change, and you’re a huge a part of that. Your love for brand spanking new Australian writing is what motivates us, and we look ahead to offering artists and patrons with an area they honestly deserve. Above all, we pledge to all the time stay really “Griff” and maintain the guts of your loved one theatre on the hill intact.

With care,
Ell
