Former MLB famous person Yasiel Puig is going through as much as 5 years in jail … after he agreed to plead responsible to mendacity to the feds throughout their investigation of an unlawful playing ring.
Federal prosecutors introduced the plea deal on Monday afternoon … saying the ex-Dodgers outfielder intends to make a responsible plea to at least one depend of constructing false statements at a courtroom listening to later this month.
The cost, based on the feds, carries a most sentence of 5 years behind bars.
Puig — who’s now enjoying baseball in South Korea after seven seasons within the MLB — had been accused by officers of putting bets by an unlawful playing enterprise starting again in May 2019.
Officials say in a matter of weeks, he racked up $282,900 in playing losses — after which minimize two separate $100K checks to the operators of the unlawful playing biz to repay his money owed … and proceed to make bets.
Authorities say following the funds, he went on to make a further 899 extra bets on the websites from July 2019 to September 2019 on tennis, soccer and basketball video games.
According to officers, Puig was in the end interviewed over all of it — they usually say he lied by his tooth … prompting the federal cost.

Puig hasn’t performed within the MLB because the 2019 season, when he was a member of each the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Guardians. He instructed TMZ Sports again in August that he was hopeful he might return to the MLB following his stint within the KBO League.
