Sara Dosa’s “Fire of Love” and Laura Poitras’ “All the Beauty and the Bloodshed” are exhibiting no indicators of slowing down as awards season heats up. Hot on the heels of Cinema Eye Honors nominations, they’ve scored IDA Documentary Award noms. Both titles are up for the ceremony’s high honor, Best Feature Documentary. Of ten movies up for the award, 5 are helmed or co-helmed by ladies.
“Fire of Love” charts the epic love story of volcanologists Katia and Maurice Krafft, whereas “All the Beauty and the Bloodshed” pays tribute to photographer Nan Goldin’s artwork and activism.
