Cate Blanchett to Receive Performer of the Year Award from Santa Barbara Film Fest


Cate Blanchett is celebrating her position as a history-making conductor in “Tár” by making historical past herself at Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF). The two-time Oscar winner has been named as this 12 months’s recipient of the fest’s Outstanding Performer of the Year Award, making her the primary individual to obtain the honour twice. The Hollywood Reporter broke the information.

Now in theaters, “Tár” sees Blanchett enjoying Lydia Tár, a world-renowned composer who serves as the primary feminine chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic.

Blanchett was beforehand acknowledged with SBIFF’s Performer of the Year Award in 2014 for her efficiency in “Blue Jasmine.” In 2008, she acquired the fest’s Modern Master Award.

SBIFF government director Roger Durling described Blanchett as an “artist who has nothing left to prove; she is one of the most brilliant actresses ever – yet she keeps challenging herself and proving over and over again that she’s the most outstanding performer!” he emphasised.

Previous recipients of the Performer of the Year Award embody Kate Winslet, Charlize Theron, and Jennifer Lawrence.

Blanchett can be offered along with her award February 10. SBIFF runs from February 8-13.

A seven-time Oscar nominee, Blanchett took house honors for “Blue Jasmine” and “The Aviator.”
