Gwyneth Paltrow Says Vagina Candle Was Supposed To Be A ‘Strong Feminist Statement’

Gwyneth Paltrow has laughed off so much of mocking Goop merchandise. But essentially the most notorious one? That one she’s nonetheless actually defensive of!

In an Instagram Q&A on Wednesday, the View From The Top star blasted the way in which a candle they bought with the title “This Smells Like My Vagina” was interpreted. She argued:

“It was a really strong feminist statement.”

It was? Yeah, that was the intention.

She defined to her followers the concept behind the title:

“So many women have been raised — at least in my generation — to think there’s something wrong with themselves, or that the vagina is weird or gross or something to be ashamed of. And so the candle was supposed to be a very strong, punk rock kind of ‘F you’ to anyone who ever made us feel like that.”

We completely get the assertion she meant to make. But this is the reason you might have second drafts. Because the assertion shouldn’t be “my vagina smells great, just like this candle” or “my other scented candle is my vagina.” The method the title really learn to everybody on the time (and nonetheless now tbh) is, “Gwyneth Paltrow thinks this candle smells like HER vagina.”

Everyone envisioned her strolling into the candle lab and remarking, “Huh — I know that smell…” Not solely did it come off like TMI, it appeared the peak of narcissism to promote the darn factor!

But now Gwyneth is making clear the candle “was not supposed to actually smell like anyone’s vagina.” She blames “clickbaity” media protection of the candle and continues to be aggravated “people tried to make it about something else.” The factor is, we agree the meant assertion is nice — however we don’t assume anybody needed to attempt to make it about one thing else. It was only a miss. It occurs.

What do YOU take into consideration the “This Smells Like My Vagina” candle??
