Growing up, Daniel McAlpine, 25, stated he at all times adopted his massive brother Kenneth round as he went on his subsequent journey. Now he’s embarking on one in all his personal.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Daniel began a cross-Canada bike trip from his hometown of Collingwood, Ont., to Rossland, B.C., in honour of his massive brother\u2019s legacy in what he’s calling the Big Ol Gerry Tour.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe would say I\u2019m a little bit nuts because he wasn\u2019t a big biker like this; he was more of a mountain biker. But I think he would have been so supportive and cheering me on the whole way, and I know he is,\u201d Daniel stated.<\/p>\n

He joked that whereas he thinks his massive brother would have joined him for a part of the journey, Daniel doubts he would have made the entire 45-day journey on a motorcycle.<\/p>\n

In 2017, Kenneth and his buddy Ryan Lachapelle shaped Team GIVE\u2019R for the fifth season of The Amazing Race Canada<\/em> and completed in second place.<\/p>\n

In 2019, Kenneth died on the age of 28 in a climbing accident in B.C.\u2019s Kootenay area.<\/p>\n

Daniel hopes to honour his late brother\u2019s ardour for journey and the outside whereas additionally elevating cash for the muse shaped in his identify.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey pushed me, and I always had to keep up, so I think that definitely pushed me into the path that I now am on. He was a larger-than-life kind of guy, and he always loved the next adventure. He always loved doing very out-there things.\u201d<\/p>\n

An avid adventurer and chef, Kenneth\u2019s Amazing Race Canada<\/em> accomplice began the Team GIVE\u2019R Foundation in his honour to offer bursaries for college kids eager to pursue a culinary schooling and assist younger individuals become involved in snowboarding and mountain biking.<\/p>\n
