Theatre Royal Stratford East<\/strong> presents The Big Life<\/strong>, taking part in Friday 16 February \u2013 Saturday 30 March 2024.<\/p>\n It\u2019s 1948 and on board the Windrush Empire, journeying over from the West Indies to England, Ferdy, Bernie, Dennis and Lennie are stuffed with expectations and aspirations.<\/p>\n Eager to make successes of themselves, they’re optimistic about what the longer term holds, plus Dennis is for certain that displaying his brother\u2019s posthumous medal from World War II will imply he’s welcomed heartily. Building this new life will take focus and sacrifice, and the younger males make the daring resolution to forswear wine and girls for 3 entire years and dedicate themselves to their future in London.<\/p>\n Sybil, Mary, Zulieka and Kathy produce other concepts. They know that man can not dwell by bread alone! So every one\u2019s resolve is put to the check as the fact of life in a less-than-welcoming England, to not point out the climate, makes forgoing the heat of feminine firm arduous to withstand.
