They said, \u2018You got two boys here from Chicago.\u2019 And, of course, when I hear this, I\u2019m thinking \u2014 \u2018Man, we\u2019re getting ready to die.\u2019 I said, \u2018These people finna kill us.’\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n He continued along with his account, noting that he was \u201cshaking like a leaf\u201d and that your complete ordeal was a \u201chorrible feeling\u201d to undergo.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m shaking like a leaf on the tree in the dark of a thousand midnights. It\u2019s so dark, you can\u2019t see your hand before your face. So, when they came in with the gun in one hand and a flashlight in the other, I closed my eyes to be shot. Horrible feeling. Horrible, horrible feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n The males finally took Till, who \u201chad no idea what was about to happen to him.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThen they aroused him. And I think they told him to put his shoes on, and he wanted to put his socks on. It was just pure hell over there. Emmett had no idea who he was dealing with. He had no idea what was about to happen to him. He had no way of knowing because he didn\u2019t know that way of life. And he left, and that\u2019s the last time we saw him alive.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Today is the anniversary of Emmett Till\u2019s homicide.
