Dressed in a blue shirt and gray swimsuit, Mustapha was considered one of two principal dancers representing the principle characters within the quantity from RRR<\/em>, a 2022 Indian epic motion drama movie.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was insane. The feeling that my heart was just pounding in my chest (as) the elevator was lifting up \u2013 I knew all the people in the audience were starting to see me and just being like, \u2018I got this.\u2019 Reminding myself, \u2018This is what I trained my whole life for.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI have two brothers, and we did hockey and soccer and kickboxing and wrestling and like all of the things. And I went to watch my sister\u2019s dance recital and I was like, \u2018Mom, I, I want to do that.\u2019 And in full support she was like, \u2018Let\u2019s sign you up right away.\u2019 So she signed me up at Dance Spectrum.\u201d<\/p>\n

A musical theatre class was his entry into dance, and underneath the help and tutelage of Amanda Sturrock, Mustapha rapidly immersed himself in all of the choices on the native dance faculty.<\/p>\n

The preparations and turnaround for the Sunday evening efficiency have been fast, with iterative rehearsals for the viral sensation dance starting Tuesday in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou learn the base of the steps, and then you start to kind of put it in some staging and then hopefully are learning your lyrics (to lip sync) while that happens even if they\u2019re in a language you don\u2019t speak,\u201d he recalled, including it wasn\u2019t till he received into the audition course of that he turned conscious of the music.<\/p>\n

Mustapha, a Lebanese-Canadian, mentioned he believes within the significance of illustration within the arts. And he struggled internally with the choice made by the casting division.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo walk in that (audition) room and just not know what I\u2019m stepping into, and then be told that I\u2019m doing a specific role that is maybe not my ethnicity or maybe not the character that I truly am is \u2013 it does happen a lot and it just comes down to casting and who they chose for the role,\u201d he mentioned.<\/p>\n

Mustapha would have liked to see extra South Asian illustration on stage as he danced alongside singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava.<\/p>\n
