The evening-length compilation of greater than a dozen Bacharach hits, can be carried out by firm dancers accompanied by the MMDG Music Ensemble, consisting of piano, trumpet, bass and percussion, with lead vocals by singer, actress and Broadway star Marcy Harriell.<\/p>\n The Look of Love\u00a0would be the 10th<\/sup>\u00a0evening-length work of the prolific Morris\u2019s profession, following 2017\u2019s\u00a0Pepperland,which showcased the work of musical legends, The Beatles. This manufacturing is Morris\u2019s first created to the music of Burt Bacharach, and can embody 14 songs by the multi-Grammy-award successful pop composer and songwriter:\u00a0\u201cThere\u2019s Always Something There to Remind Me,\u201d \u201cMessage to Michael,\u201d \u201cAnyone Who Had A Heart,\u201d \u201cWalk on By,\u201d \u201cAre You There (With Another Girl),\u201d \u201cI Say A Little Prayer,\u201d \u201cDo You Know the Way to San Jose,\u201d \u201cI\u2019ll Never Fall in Love Again,\u201d \u201cWhat the World Needs Now Is Love,\u201d \u201cDon\u2019t Make Me Over,\u201d \u201cRaindrops Keep Fallin\u2019 on My Head,\u201d \u201cAlfie,\u201d \u201cThe Look of Love,\u201d and\u00a0\u201cThe Blob.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAlways engaging melodically, always surprising rhythmically, with a touch of melancholy and a striving hope, Bacharach\u2019s marvelous music calls out for dancing,\u201d says Morris. \u201cThere is a rich range of emotion, point of view and dynamics in Bacharach\u2019s (and lyricist Hal David\u2019s) amazing compositions, both the very familiar and the relatively obscure.\u00a0The Look of Love\u00a0<\/em>will be an action-packed, varied, song and dance show, with something for everyone\u2026a moving return to live theater.\u201d<\/p>\n In addition to Bacharach and Iverson, Morris\u2019s artistic staff for\u00a0The Look of Love<\/em> contains different frequent collaborators: designer Isaac Mizrahi and lighting designer Nicole Pearce.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cFor many years, I\u2019ve wanted to see my music reimagined in some kind of theatrical production \u2013 not just a jukebox musical formula of songs, but an original work with its own story and appeal,\u201d says Bacharach. \u201cI\u2019ve found an ideal collaborator in Mark Morris, whose brilliant choreography and deep musicality give songs new meaning and dimension through movement. Like a great melody, his dances evoke an atmosphere and inspire feelings, and I think that\u2019s just what the world needs now. I\u2019m excited to see how Morris and his creative team bring my songs to the stage in\u00a0The Look of Love.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n The Look of Love\u00a0<\/em>is a manufacturing of 13 organizations that kind a rising group of commissioning companions united by their esteem for Morris and a need to help the continued creation and efficiency of his work:\u00a0BroadStage, Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), and The Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center at Auburn University in affiliation with Arizona Arts Live, University of Arizona; Cal Performances, UC Berkeley; The Grange Festival; Harriman-Jewell Series; Hopkins Center for the Arts, Dartmouth College; The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts; Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; Modlin Center for the Arts at University of Richmond; UC Santa Barbara Arts & Lectures; and Virginia Arts Festival. This co-commissioning mannequin permits entities of assorted sizes and scope to collectively present the monetary assets essential to convey large-scale productions to the stage, whereas partnering with a prestigious cohort of presenting establishments and sharing within the legacy of a Morris world premiere.<\/p>\n \u201cAs we make a bold return to creating and touring new dances, we are especially grateful to our commissioning partners whose commitment to Mark\u2019s work makes this collaboration possible,\u201d says MMDG Executive Director Nancy Umanoff.<\/p>\n The Look of Love<\/em>\u00a0can have its world premiere on Friday, October 20, at BroadStage in Santa Monica, CA, with\u00a0subsequent performances to comply with<\/a>\u00a0at main performing arts facilities worldwide. The premiere of\u00a0The Look of Love<\/em> may also launch MMDG\u2019s 2022-23 Season.<\/p>\n
