Apple TV+<\/a>\u2018s upcoming dark comedy Sunny<\/em><\/a>, starring and executive produced by Rashida Jones<\/a>, has rounded out its cast with five more additions, including Barry<\/em><\/a> star Joanna Sotomura.<\/p>\n According to Deadline<\/em><\/a>, Sotomura will be joined by Judy Ongg (Doctor-X<\/em>), Jun Kunimura (Kill Bill<\/em>), YOU (Nobody Knows<\/em>), and singer-songwriter annie the clumsy (Miss Osaka<\/em>). The series, written by Katie Robbins (The Affair<\/em><\/a>), is based on the book Dark Manual<\/em><\/a> by Japan-based Irish author Colin O\u2019Sullivan.<\/p>\n Sotomura will play the titular Sunny, an emotionally refined home robotic given to Jones\u2019 Suzie after her husband, Masa (Hidetoshi Nishijima), and their son disappear in a mysterious aircraft crash. While Suzie initially resents Sunny\u2019s makes an attempt to fill the void in her life, they progressively develop an sudden friendship and collectively uncover the darkish reality of what actually occurred to Suzie\u2019s household.<\/p>\n Ongg will play Masa\u2019s mom, Noriko Sakamoto, a rich housewife from an outdated Kyoto household, who tolerates her daughter-in-law as a consequence of her unconditional love for her son. Kunimura, in the meantime, portrays Yuki Tanaka, a visionary roboticist who works at Masa\u2019s electronics firm.<\/p>\n YOU stars as Hime, the robust and unbiased daughter of the nonagenarian chief of Kyoto\u2019s Yakuza clan, who has goals of being her father\u2019s successor. And lastly, annie the clumsy is Mixxy, a brand new buddy of Suzie and an aspiring mixologist who’s described as \u201caudacious, feisty, [and] something of a mess, both literally and emotionally.\u201d<\/p>\n
