Future Falling<\/a><\/em>. We\u2019ve already heard its lead single that includes Bat For Lashes, \u201cNear.\u201d Today, we\u2019re getting a follow-up monitor that includes Kimbra. \u201cAfterglow\u201d opens with a dampened, shuffling beat and is quickly joined by a somber synth melody as Kimbra intones a couple of damaged relationship.<\/p>\nAs Kimbra explains: \u201cI remember first hearing this instrumental and really connecting with the somber yet hopeful mood. It really reminded me of the end of a relationship and the different ways we attempt to make sense of the outcome. I found a poem I\u2019d written when I was going through exactly that and put melody to it. It fit like a puzzle piece. I love the ways that Jimmy built the arrangement to decorate these words, and I\u2019m so proud of how it turned out.\u201d<\/p>\n
LaValle provides: \u201cI had always imagined vocals when I wrote this song. I didn\u2019t have a specific emotion or any kind of story I wanted to tell and KIMBRA came in and told her story. She created a narrative that fit the tone and feel of the music. It was truly a seamless collaboration. Her vocal delivery is a special gift. Her vocal inspired an arrangement that pushed the song in a new direction, with added instrumentation from my longtime collaborator, Keith Milgaten and trumpet from Ryan Svendsen, I\u2019m extremely grateful to share this song with her.\u201d<\/p>\n
