Described by director Tamana Ayazi<\/a> as \u201cthe story of Afghanistan and its people from 2020 until now,\u201d \u201cIn Her Hands\u201d follows Zarifa Ghafari, certainly one of Afghanistan\u2019s first feminine mayors. \u201cI\u2019m not a hero,\u201d the politician says in a brand new trailer for the documentary. Far from everyone seems to be satisfied she\u2019s match for workplace. \u201cA woman? She should stay home, cook, and do housework,\u201d one interviewee insists.<\/p>\nGhafari has different concepts about about what position women and girls ought to play in Afghanistan. \u201cEducation is the key to a country\u2019s development,\u201d she explains. \u201cI want to fight here for women\u2019s education rights. If you educate one girl or woman, you save 10 generations.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAs an Afghan, I want people to know what Afghans are experiencing every day as a nation trapped in the middle of a crisis created by the world\u2019s leaders, the Taliban, and corrupt Afghan leaders,\u201d Ayazi informed us. \u201cI want the world to remember Afghanistan, especially Afghan women, who are paying more than anyone for a war we didn\u2019t choose. I want people to be kind to the Afghans who became refugees and live in exile and to the Afghans stuck in Afghanistan. I want them to remind their leaders not to forget Afghanistan.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIn Her Hands\u201d counts Hillary and Chelsea Clinton amongst its producers. The doc is co-directed by Marcel Mettelsiefen and launches on Netflix November 16.<\/p>\n
