Lucy Hale<\/strong> is getting actual about her sobriety.<\/span><\/p>\n While showing on Thursday\u2019s episode of The Diary of a CEO<\/em> podcast, the Pretty Little Liars<\/em> alum opened up about her struggles with alcoholism through the years:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been working on getting sober since I was 20 \u2014 I\u2019m 33. It takes time. It took time, and it took patience with myself.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Lucy admitted that her \u201cproblem\u201d has now really spanned practically 20 years, telling host Steven Bartlett<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve had an issue from my very first experience drinking, which was like, age 14. Up until a year ago, I have had a problem.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Wow \u2014 SUCH an early age to start out up! No marvel she wasn\u2019t prepared. It was always, \u2018Let\u2019s go.\u2019 I was willing to go to this crazy dark place every time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n So scary\u2026 She continued:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cMy brain doesn\u2019t work the same way as someone who can just have a glass of wine. It always wants more. It\u2019s craving that feeling.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n The Truth or Dare<\/em> star did, nonetheless, want a change, however for a very long time tried to take action for the flawed causes:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI tried to change for boyfriends, I tried to change for my mom, I tried to change for my career, I tried to change for vain reasons \u2014 \u2018I\u2019ll look younger and look skinnier.
