The grants, that are a part of the Frank Young Fund for New Musicals, assist collaborations with writers to create, develop, and produce new musicals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to announce this funding for our member organizations that celebrates their commitment to the development of new musicals,\u201d NAMT govt director Betsy King Militello mentioned in an announcement. \u201cWe are constantly amazed by the quality and range of the work coming from our members, and the Writers Residency Grants support the cultivation of those vital collaborations between writers and producers at an early stage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Frank Young Fund has awarded a number of member organizations $500 to $2,000 in grants, together with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/arsnovanyc.com\" target=\"_blank\">Ars Nova<\/a> for James Harrison Monaco\u2019s <em>Travels<\/em>; <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.diversionary.org\" target=\"_blank\">Diversionary Theatre<\/a> for <em>Queer. People. Time. <\/em>by EllaRose Chary and Brandon James Gwinn; <a href=\"https:\/\/eastwestplayers.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">East West Players<\/a> for Jennifer Paz\u2019s <em>Proud Mary\u2019s<\/em>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodspeed.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Goodspeed Musicals<\/a> for Joriah Kwam\u00e9\u2019s <em>Little Miss Perfect<\/em>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.playwrightshorizons.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Playwrights Horizons<\/a> for <em>Black Girl in Paris <\/em>by AriDy Nox and Jacinth Greywoode; <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.seattlerep.org\" target=\"_blank\">Seattle Repertory Theatre<\/a> for <em>(BIRD + CRAB) <\/em>by Jessica Huang, Fernando Diaz, and Florencia Iriondo; <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latteda.org\" target=\"_blank\">Theater Latt\u00e9 Da<\/a> for Celeste Moreno\u2019s <em>The Legend of La Llorona: A Zarzuela of La Frontera<\/em>; and <a href=\"https:\/\/theatreworks.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TheatreWorks Silicon Valley<\/a> for <em>How to Build a Revolution <\/em>by Lynn Rosen, Pia Wilson, and Paula Cole.<\/p>\n<p>The Frank Young Fund is overseen by NAMT new works director Frankie Dailey, and the really useful grant recipients are chosen by a committee of nationwide trade leaders. This yr\u2019s committee was co-chaired by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americantheatre.org\/2021\/11\/09\/eric-keen-louie-wants-us-to-remember-why-we-do-theatre\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"63344\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eric Keen-Louie<\/a> of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/lajollaplayhouse.org\" target=\"_blank\">La Jolla Playhouse<\/a> and Aislinn Frantz of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagoshakes.com\" target=\"_blank\">Chicago Shakespeare Theater.<\/a> The fund has supplied over $750,000 in awards to new musicals during the last 14 years.<\/p>\n<p>The mission of the National Alliance for Musical Theatre is to be a catalyst for nurturing musical theatre growth, manufacturing, innovation, and collaboration.
