(Photo by Josh Olson)<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>WASHINGTON, D.C.:<\/strong> <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/theaterj.org\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/theaterj.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Theater J<\/a>, a program of the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.edcjcc.org\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.edcjcc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Edlavitch DC Jewish Community Center (EDCJCC)<\/a>, has introduced that Hayley Finn will turn into its new inventive director on Feb. 1. Finn will lead the theatre alongside managing director David Lloyd Olson. Finn served for 16 years as affiliate inventive director at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/pwcenter.org\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pwcenter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Playwrights\u2019 Center<\/a> in Minneapolis. She succeeds earlier inventive director Adam Immerwahr, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americantheatre.org\/2022\/07\/08\/adam-immerwahr-laura-lee-to-lead-village-theatre\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"66544\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">who left final summer time.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHayley Finn joins Theater J at a moment of strength,\u201d stated Olson in a press release. \u201cAt a time when most theatres in the country have seen their subscription audience shrink, Theater J\u2019s subscription audience is now larger than it\u2019s been in the past seven years, and I believe that with Hayley as our artistic director, our programming will continue to grow a broad and diverse audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Finn has over 25 years of expertise in skilled theatre throughout all facets of the career, together with producing, directing, casting, schooling, and fundraising, and has labored to create nationwide partnerships for theatres on Broadway, Off-Broadway, regionally, and internationally. At the Playwrights\u2019 Center, Finn produced over 1,000 workshops with main playwrights. She additionally served as co-artistic director of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.redeyetheater.org\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.redeyetheater.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Red Eye Theater<\/a> since 2019 the place she co-produced and curated the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.redeyetheater.org\/new-works-4-weeks-festival-2021\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.redeyetheater.org\/new-works-4-weeks-festival-2021\" target=\"_blank\">New Works 4 Weeks Festival<\/a> and co-led the fundraising and growth of a brand new 150-seat black field theatre in Minneapolis. Her current directing credit embody the world premiere of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americantheatre.org\/2018\/11\/27\/playwright-christina-ham\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"48016\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Christina Ham<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<em>West of Central<\/em>\u00a0at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/pillsburyhouseandtheatre.org\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pillsburyhouseandtheatre.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pillsbury House Theater<\/a>, the regional premiere of her play\u00a0<em>Nina Simone: Four Women<\/em>\u00a0at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.peopleslight.org\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.peopleslight.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">People\u2019s Light<\/a>, and <em>Significant Other\u00a0<\/em>by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americantheatre.org\/2014\/04\/13\/an-interview-with-bad-jews-playwright-joshua-harmon-2\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1039\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joshua Harmon<\/a> at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sixpointstheater.org\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.sixpointstheater.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Six Points Theatre<\/a> (previously Minnesota Jewish Theatre), the place she has directed seven productions.\u00a0Finn was assistant director on a number of Broadway productions, together with the Tony Award-winning manufacturing of Arthur Miller\u2019s <em>A View from the Bridge<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am honored to become Theater J\u2019s next artistic director and further its mission to tell stories illuminating the complexities and nuances of both the Jewish experience and the human condition through diverse perspectives and aesthetic visions,\u201d stated Finn in a press release. \u201cI am committed to building upon the theatre\u2019s rich legacy of producing vibrant theatrical works that pose relevant questions of our time toward inspiring greater empathy and understanding. During my career, I have worked closely with many incredible playwrights and am excited to continue to develop, produce and champion writers responding to our rapidly changing world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Finn is an Alumna of the Drama League Director\u2019s Program, recipient of the Ruth Easton Fellowship, TCG Future Leader Grant, National Endowment for the Arts assist, and a Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant. She obtained her B.A. and M.A. from Brown University.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Theater J is the nation\u2019s largest skilled Jewish theatre, primarily based in Washington, D.C.
